Iām Kirsty Parris and I was born to be a Business Coach.
I specialise in helping business owners, like you, to realise the true potential of your business.
It is so easy to get caught up in day to day activities and lose sight of the bigger picture. Driving your business forward is not always as easy as it seems. What does your business have to do, look like and behave like to give you what you want out of life? In other words, what is your vision?
Business IS personal, especially if you are the business owner, so defining both personal and business goals is instrumental in giving direction to success. And ensuring that your business is being built on solid foundations is imperative!
Since 2011 I have independently worked with businesses in a variety of industries & sectors. Working with new start-ups to established medium sized business, helping restructure, rethink and re-imagine.
In addition, for more than 6 years I been immersed in the realm of marketing, which has added to my business toolkit, which in turn has helped my clients.
My Journey
Ever since leaving school at the age of 17, I have worked in a variety of different positions in different types of businesses. I left school not having a clue what I wanted as a career. My first job was a data entry clerk for a shipping company... it was the days before computers and this had to be the most tedious job ever! I left there after only a few months and got a job at Christie's Fine Art Auctioneers and what an experience that was. I got to work with people from all walks of life and I loved it!
Skipping forward several years I had the opportunity to work with my family. We provided training courses in project management (PRINCE2), business systems analysis and design. It was here that I gained further training and became involved with all aspects of developing the business and within a couple of years I was made the Sales & Marketing Director, managing my own sales team. We had hundreds of clients including Pfizer and the MOD.
In 2004 I became unwell and spent a couple of years in recovery. Then in 2006 I was asked to join the team at Ad Valorem Accountancy Services, where I helped develop the practice, worked with their clients and continued to develop my business skills.
Combined with the personal coaching training I'd received and experience over the years, I realised I had a unique perspective and could benefit business owners by being able to pass on my skills, advice and support enabling them to achieve success.
My Passion
My passion has always been to help people - no matter what the problem is. This desire led me to volunteering to be Chairman of The Olney Chamber of Trade more than 6 years ago and every month I host a breakfast networking meeting. It is an opportunity for other business owners to promote and support each other and I often give talks on best business practices and effective marketing tips.
In April 2021 I became President of BNI Sterling Chapter. Being part of BNI elevated my business in ways I never expected. Meeting on Zoom every week since April 2020, led me to realising I can be an effective online coach (something I hadn't considered before) and this led to the development of my Pegasus Business Boost program - a way to offer a low-cost option providing quality advice and support. After 4 years of BNI I felt that it was time to move on and to broaden my network.
I was invited to host my own Busy Networking group in Northampton - an opportunity to create a tribe of my own. So in September 2023 I launched the Busy Networking Northampton group with 25 members!
Now I have something I can offer anyone in business!
Just goes to prove that you are never too old to learn new things and make new contacts!
My Approach
I have always believed that things happen to us for a reason, and though we may not know or understand in the moment, all will be revealed to us when we need to know. That is how I feel about my journey and what has led me to becoming a coach (though I don't like to be called that)!
Every job I've had, every role I've taken, every person I have ever worked with, has been my training. From it all, I have learned to listen, to understand, to strategise. I know what it is to be a business owner. I understand the pain and frustration when things go wrong or not as expected. I can totally relate to suffering from "imposter syndrome". When things go wrong for my clients I tell them "Don't beat yourself up. Put it down to training. What have we learned and what will we do differently next time?"
I am all for positive thinking, however I have an analytical brain and I'm a numbers girl. I like to be organised. I like to plan and I'm a sucker for a spreadsheet. (I blame my father for that).
My business growth programs are a combination of psychological support and solid business advice. I have been called a therapist on many occasion. Business is stressful and that stress can have a massive impact on how a business performs. I see it as part of my job to take that load off my clients shoulders and help them navigate whatever is holding them back. Then we can get on with the business of making a profit and making a difference!
"During the testing times of COVID-19, Kirsty was a great help not only supporting the business but keeping me focused and following the plans we were working towards.
