How To Achieve Your Life Goals Through Your Business

Your business is a big part of your life’s story and it will help you achieve your personal goals. That’s why setting meaningful and achievable business goals that help you get from where you are to where you want to be is so important.

Our first step is to understand your ‘why?’ so that we can create a vision that will be the foundation for your business goals.

This isn’t just an exercise for large companies: it’s just as important if you’re a sole trader.

Taking some time to capture why you are in business rather than what you do or how you do it will help you to stay focussed on what really matters. Imagine your vision as your destination rather than the journey you will take to get there.

We’ll look at the actions and plans you will need to put in place later.

In the meantime, we might use some visualisation techniques to help at this stage because imagery is very powerful. We think about pictures, sounds, and emotions before we put our thoughts into words.

What Challenges Do You Face?

Nobody said it was going to be easy. That’s why it helps to work with someone else.

Many business owners struggle to set powerful goals because they lack clarity, they might even write a wish list of desires without any clear idea of how to achieve them or why they might help in the longer term.

Some people just write ‘to do’ lists that get longer and longer until they become overwhelming.

Most commonly, they set goals that aren’t aligned with their values or vision as a business owner.

Put simply, your goals must be long-term and strategic, they must be specific but not too detailed, and they must contribute to your vision for the future.

What We Will Do

We will look at what you need to do to achieve your personal goals and deliver on your business vision. We will consider what your business must do, and how you and your team must look and behave to give you the results you want.

We will use tried and tested analysis techniques like SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) to identify how things can be improved and changed to achieve your longer-term aims.

We will also test every goal to make sure it is SMART. This means they must each be:

S – specific (or significant)
M – measurable (or meaningful)
A – attainable (or action-orientated)
R – relevant (or rewarding)
T – time-bound (or trackable)

WHAT DIFFERENCE WILL IT MAKE?

Once your business goals are agreed we can move on to look at how these will influence every aspect of your business. This could range from profitability and performance to staff recruitment and retention.

So, for example, if your first priority is to increase profitability so you can pay yourself a reasonable amount, we will look at ways to increase sales and cut costs to get you to your first milestone.
